新譜「Fallen Angels」のアートワークと収録曲が発表された。

（と言っても、日本ではシングルカットされて発売されたから、既に聴き込んでる方も多いだろう）

いい声です。
うっとりです。
でも正直これだけじゃ Shadows in the Night とどう違うのか分からないけど。
ボブ・ディランって2000年代に入ってからは３〜５年おきぐらいで新曲を発表してるんだけど(※1)、それで言えば、今年はそれこそ新曲の年だったのだと思う。
でも今年はカバーアルバムになってしまった。
ということは、オリジナルの曲で構成されたアルバムも近いうちに発表されるんじゃないかな！！！
という、勝手に淡い期待。

新譜は噂通りの「スタンダードカヴァーアルバム」になったわけだけど、正直知らない曲もあるので、今回は新譜のための準備をしたいと思う。
Melancholy Mood
Melancholy Mood は前のポストで紹介したように、フランク・シナトラのファーストシングルで、1939年にハリー・ジェームズというトランペット奏者と、彼の楽団とともにレコーディングされた曲。
ハリー・ジェームズは当時無名だったシナトラの才能を見出した人物として知られている。

よって、翻訳は放棄します。
「憂鬱な気分 なぜ私を盲目にする 私を哀れみこの縛る鎖を壊して 私を解放し自由にして 彼を私に返して おお憂鬱よ」とか、そんな感じ？
「おお憂鬱よ」とか訳すとシェイクスピアみたい。笑
失恋の歌だけど、これ女性目線の歌みたいですね。一応「彼」って言ってるし。

Young At Heart
Fallen Angels の一曲目である Young At Heart はメキシコ出身でハリウッドで活躍したサックス奏者でありジャズアレンジャーのジョニー・リチャーズが作曲、ブロードウェイで活動していたキャロリン・リー作詞の1953年の曲。
フランク・シナトラが歌いミリオンセラーを達成した。
この曲は翌年にシナトラ主演で映画化され、ドリス・デイと一緒に歌っている（曲が映画になるってどういうことなのかよく分からんが、日本でも似たようなことはあったような気も）。
おじいさんおばあさんがロックやR&Bを歌いまくって果ては死人まで出る（年だから）感動音楽ドキュメンタリーとはまた別の映画です。念のため。
